Last month, I had the chance to organise my first car meet in Japan alongside my friend @sotobo_oldschool. We called it Blurry Nights, or ぼやけた夜 (Boyaketa Yoru), a fitting name for a late-night meet at a PA. The cars that turned up were wild. A bunch of local Chiba guys rolled in with their Kaido racers, which was super cool to see.
Throughout the night, we had all kinds of cars come through, VIP, street, drift, show and I’m beyond grateful to everyone who braved the cold and misty rain to be there. I honestly didn’t think I could pull something like this off in Japan, let alone have people actually show up, so it was pretty humbling seeing how many came out, even more than our Melbourne meet, which is crazy.
We were also lucky enough to have two old-school Japanese VIP salon buses pull up, completely decked out with chandeliers and lights, kind of like Dekotora, but for buses. The owner was kind enough to give us a full tour inside, and with plush carpet, velour seats, and heaters pumping, stepping out of the cold into that warmth was honestly the best feeling, haha.
The Poison drift team even pulled up with Kakeru’s 180SX loaded on the back of their truck. Showing up to a meet with your car on a loader has to be the ultimate flex.
Can’t wait to line up another one next time I’m in Japan, maybe Blurry Nights 2? Or even one in Melbourne? Wherever it ends up, I’ll be sure to have a stack of Blurry Nights stickers ready to go.
