First up, a huge thank you to everyone who came out to Garage Sokudo Twilight Underpass 2 over the weekend here in Melbourne. What a night. It was packed with some of the city’s best Japanese street cars, and honestly, I’m still buzzing from seeing so many old friends, some I hadn’t seen in nearly 15 years, bringing their cars out. Knowing how rarely some of these builds hit the street makes it even more special. I’m seriously grateful.
The mix of cars was incredible. Compared to the first Twilight Underpass back in February, the S-chassis crew showed up strong this time. There was a full section of JZXs, plus a great lineup of Kyusha, GTRs, Hondas, Mazdas, Subarus, and more. The whole thing felt like a proper snapshot of what Garage Sokudo stands for. It really proves Melbourne still has some of the best street cars around, they’re just tucked away, waiting for the right moment.
What’s even more exciting is seeing a younger crowd soaking up that 2000s style, despite not having lived through it. That’s what it’s all about.
A couple of standouts for me were Jen’s R32 Skyline with that insane rainbow flake paint (if you know me, you know I’ve got a soft spot for glitter), and Merlz’s 180SX with all the details, including the Miracle X-bar setup.
Thanks again to everyone who pulled up. Hopefully nights like this spark something for the next generation to build, drive, and create safely.
