Denis’s 90’s style S13 Silvia

1990s and 2000s drift style are very different, yet they’re often mistaken for one another. It’s not about the era the car was released, but the era it’s styled to represent. A perfect example of this is Denis’s S13 Silvia, a car that captures the quintessential 1990s look.

Denis has nailed the essence of 90s styling, right down to the 15-inch mismatched wheels with SSR Jilba fronts and IMPUL Hoshino rears. The aero is a true mix-and-match setup, combining TBO and Bomex, paired with Aero Marker mirrors, a B-Wave wing and, of course, S13 square headlights, commonly nicknamed “bricks,” finished with a matching GT-R–style grille.

Despite the car’s unmistakable 1990s aesthetic, it’s been built with plenty of modern components to keep it reliable and functional. The SR20 features a handful of power upgrades, including a larger turbo and an aftermarket intake plenum, making it genuinely fun to drive. The engine bay also received a full white treatment, from the valve cover to the hoses and couplers. On paper it sounds like it could be over the top, but in reality it works perfectly.

That’s exactly what makes me love this car so much. It’s completely personal and undeniably unique. This isn’t a catalogue build. Everything has a purpose, but it also carries individuality, which to me is such a defining part of true 1990s style.

Shooting this car really highlighted its presence. The height, the sound, and the attitude all come together, and having a picturesque Melbourne backdrop certainly doesn’t hurt either.
